ABOUT

Hello, I'm Shelby, The Bohemian Butterfly, a mixed media artist and jewelry designer living in the Hill Country of Texas. As a former pet salon owner and professional pet stylist, I enjoy using my love of animals and nature in my art and jewelry style. After a work injury, I rediscovered my passion for creating art inspired by my love for vibrant elements like leopard print and flowers which you will see is a theme in much of my designs. You can most often find me in my cozy studio accompanied by my fur baby and BFF— a chocolate shih tzu named Stevie.

 

Born in Kansas, I grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma and have also lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Monroe, Washington where I took advantage of the beautiful landscapes and artistic scenery. While in Washington I attended the Burkhead Art Center where I completed my silversmithing course. Now residing in Texas, I enjoy visiting the local shops, soaking up the sunshine, and driving through the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

 

My current artistic interest is most definitely mixed media art and collage, bead wire-wrapped jewelry and ceramics. I have also been enjoying learning the technic of soft soldering (also known as the Tiffany method). I would say my techniques and skills are always changing and evolving bringing me more joy and pleasure every day.
